MINISTRY OF LAW AND HUMAN RIGHTS – REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

Overview

The Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, as mandated by Law No. 1 Year 2006 on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, serves as the Central Authority for MLA and Extradition Cooperation of the Republic of Indonesia. In fulfilling this role, the Ministry ensures the effective implementation of quality control through the use of the Systematic Nomenclature of Items (SNI) to enhance the reliability and accuracy of the legal processes involved in multi-jurisdiction cases. To further bolster the comprehensive nature of its services, the Ministry also includes product registration as part of its responsibilities. This ensures that the legal processes not only adhere to high standards but also encompass a thorough verification of products involved in multi-jurisdiction cases.
Moreover, the Directorate of Central Authority and International Law, operating under the Directorate General of Legal Administrative Affairs, is responsible for executing Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters (MLA) and Extradition requests at the technical level. This entails coordination with competent authorities, as well as the facilitation of Import & Export processes related to legal documentation and information exchange for seamless cooperation and collaboration among law enforcement agencies. The addition of product registration underscores the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a secure and transparent environment by encompassing a holistic approach to legal proceedings and ensuring the legitimacy of products involved in such cases.
